PCI's Outreach in India

	Distributing medicine for tsunami victims.

Pilots for Christ Headquarters received an urgent call from our India chapter asking for financial help after the earthquake and following tsunamis struck their area in December. Jim McConnell, PCI National President, forwarded this call via e-mail to our chapter presidents who responded liberally with $7,000 from chapter members. Jim has been corresponding with Israel Caleb, president of the India chapter, ever since keeping abreast of the needs and receiving reports on how the money is being spent. Israel writes that the chapter has been concentrating on delivering help to camps in Tharangampadi, Poombuher and in villages near Nagapatinam and Vellanganni, Kadaloor and the Pondicherry area. They are distributing water, food packets consisting of rice and vegetables, blankets, clothing, Hurricane lamps and much needed medicines. In recent up-dates from Israel, he writes that they are now also trying to rehabilitate the fishermen whose boats were destroyed or damaged in the disaster. Their most urgent need is for fish nets and the ability to repair or buy new boats to enable them to return to fishing which provides for the livelihood of their families. They need common borewells with hand pumps which will provide water for many people and public toilets for sanitation purposes. Another need is for an ambulance which the PCI members hope to use in the Nagapatinam area to provide permanent help for the poor. They know of an ambulance which can be purchased for $10,000. Several of the chapter members are paramedics.

Receiving hurricane lamps from PCI chapter

Israel asks for prayer to protect the victims from disease as well as their chapter members. Israel has recently recovered from an illness that he picked up from their work with the tsunami victims.

President Caleb also asks for prayer to receive the Lord’s wisdom for planning wisely to meet the needs of the people in a permanent way. The India chapter is taking full advantage of this opportunity to share the love of Jesus with the Hindu people whom they are ministering to primarily. The Lord has provided an unprecedented open door for His Good News to be shared.
