President’s Column: Obedience, the necessary ingredient to serve the LordThe Lord has demonstrated over and over how He provides for PCI’s needs as long as we follow Him. The only thing the Lord will not provide is our obedience to follow His lead. In Isaiah 6:8, Isaiah heard the Lord ask, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” Isaiah responded, “Here am I. Send me!” Pilots for Christ has been commissioned by the Lord to represent Him and to spread the Gospel in our communities and beyond. The Lord blesses our service to Him in many ways. We have the joy of seeing the lost come to Him and seeing families re-united. We see His healing power in the lives of those we fly for treatment. We participate in a transportation network that might bankrupt some corporations and yet He provides the funds and trained people needed. Just this last month, we participated in a six aircraft outreach into Mexico, flights down into the Caribbean and many mercy flights within our national borders. Some of these flights are scheduled here in PCI’s national office. When I call chapters and individual members to fly missions, I know that in each case, the person called upon must make the decision that Isaiah made and say, “Send me”. Sometimes I know the person making the flight has made a sacrifice to fly the mission, but every mission report is filled in with an account of the blessings received for the sacrifice made. My life has been enriched with blessings from making these flights. I have found our Lord to be a good employer. He rewards those who do His work in ways that no human boss can. If you have been reluctant to make that schedule change or to take that extra day off from work to fly for the Lord, or to spend a day in a PCI booth at a community outreach telling people about Jesus, you are missing the best the Lord has to offer—being a witness for Him. You may be sun burned from exposure, but you will be aglow with the love of the Lord and enriched by His Holy Spirit. Jim McConnell |
