Chaplain’s ColumnAs I have thought and prayed about our brothers and sisters in India, I have come to the following conclusion. We know that God is in control even in the darkest hours. We know that He is our protection in the most difficult times. We know that He gives wisdom to those who ask. I conclude that it is our task to bombard heaven on behalf of our brothers and sisters asking that God grant them the wisdom necessary for Him to provide the direction they need in their decisions so He will give them protection and victory. I am reminded of Joshua in this situation. In Joshua 1:1-9, he faced an impossible situation. Not only did he have to contend with military powers in the Promised Land, but also he had to face them with an untrained band of nomadic shepherds. God realized Joshua's need for courage and wisdom, so He gave him guidance that would strengthen his faith. First, God reminded Joshua of His faithfulness to keep all His promises. God had pledged to give the land to His people and He would fulfill that pledge. Joshua's success did not rest on a military strategy or well-trained army, but on the faithfulness of God. Second, God commanded Joshua to meditate on His words that He had given to Moses. The "Book of the Law" would give Joshua the wisdom and encouragement he would need to courageously lead the nation. Third, God promised to be personally present with Joshua. No matter how intimidating the enemy; Joshua would not have to face them alone. God would always be with him. I believe that God is the same yesterday, today and forever. I believe if we intercede for our brothers and sisters in India, our Lord Jesus will do the same for them as He did for Joshua. Let us pray and fast and believe God for protection and victory for our threatened brothers and sisters. Jerry Poff, PCI Chaplain |
