Chaplain’s CornerBy Major Bill Fox U.S.A. I recently read the story of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10:25-37. I thought how pertinent this story still is today. Three men passed this man who had been robbed and beaten and left for dead and only one of them stopped to help him. I thought about our society and wondered how many people would pass by someone who is hurting today before someone would stop? The thought scared me. As I looked at the two men who didn't stop it was of course most obvious that they were both religious leaders. I thought about that for awhile and asked the Lord why He chose two religious leaders to us in this story. The impressions I got were that Jesus wanted to expose their false religion. Here they were the leaders of the Jewish nation and yet they would not stop to help a person in need. They were too busy or too afraid to get involved. Actually the two excuses go together. So Jesus exposed their hypocrisy. Then I thought about our hypocrisy today. How we often are too busy or too afraid to get involved with those around us who are hurting in some way. Often we are so busy that we don't even notice when someone is hurting so we can't hardly help them if we don't notice they are hurting. We may not be the pastors of our churches but we are Christians and we must be the ones who lead out in noticing and helping those who are hurting. If we don't who will? As I further thought about the passage I thought about how I sometimes pick and chose who I will help. As Pilots for Christ most of today's society would consider us 'Good Samaritans' and they would be right for indeed we are but how many people do we pass on a daily basis that we don't want to get involved with. I believe the Lord would give us a 'that a boy' for what we are doing as an organization and probably as individuals but I think He would have us examine our daily situations and see if there is someone out there we could be helping no matter who they are. Spend some time this week with the Lord of Lords and King of Kings and ask Him to fill you with His Holy Spirit so He can release His love and compassion through you to a hurting world. May our precious Lord and Savior bless each of you as you continue in Him. PCI Welcomes New Members
