The Virginia chapter members, PCI supporters, family and friends gathered on
Saturday morning, August 4th at the Manassas Airport (HEF) to dedicate the
recently donated Aero Twin Commander to the Lord. The group rejoiced
together at the goodness of the Lord's special gift which will enable the
chapter to fly non-ambulatory missions when needed. Dr. Paul Lee of the
First Baptist Church of Clarendon wrote and led a dedication song for the
occasion which was sung to the tune of "I'll Fly Away". He also wrote a
poem entitled "The Pilot's 23rd Psalm" which attendees recited together.
Those in attendance laid their hands upon the plane while Pastor Tim
Tate of the United Methodist Church of Centreville prayed a prayer of dedication
to the Lord's service. Pastors Tom Moore and Barry Phips of the Manassas
Assembly of God Church also spoke words of encouragement for the occasion.
Following the dedication, everyone gathered for refreshments and fellowship at
the Falcon Head FBO conference room at Manassas Airport.
Virginia chapter pilots Jim McConnell and Lee De Armond
put the Twin Commander to good use on August 8th by flying 85-year-old Mrs.
Flora Lucile Foster from Altoona, Pennsylvania back to her home in Manassas,
Virginia. Mrs. Foster had fallen and broken her hip while visiting
relatives and was very happy to be transported back home again after an extended
stay in the hospital and nursing care center.
The Virginia chapter looks forward to using the Aero Twin
Commander for many more mercy missions
